WATCH: Some Idiot Manages To Win ‘Jeopardy’ With A Single Measly Dollar

Usually Jeopardy highlights are impressive, like when Ken Jennings rattled off 74 straight wins to the tune of more than $3.1 million in earnings. Or sometimes, they are just hilarious slip of the tongues that border on inappropriate humor, like the time one contestant answered with “What is a hoe?” (spoiler alert: wrong answer).

This highlight is different altogether. More like a lowlight, really. Defending champion Manny Abell entered Final Jeopardy with just $1,000 to bet with, trailing way behind the other two challengers. Carlos Nobleza Posas and Fran Fried were tied with a much larger $12,300 and knew they would have to bet it all (and get the right answer) for a chance to win.

Turns out, everyone got Final Jeopardy wrong (“It’s the only country that borders both the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf” – What is Iran?), but while Posas and Fried bet everything attempting to win, Abell bet just $999, awarding him a win with just a single dollar. As seen in the video, it’s only the second time that has happened in the history of the show.

Also, we’re just kidding about calling Abell an idiot in the title. Only the best Jeopardy players get through the tryouts and onto TV, so we’re sure he’s actually very smart in real life.
