The Walking Dead

WATCH: First (Very Long) Trailer For New ‘Walking Dead’ Season, With a Very WTF Ending

**Warning: This trailer contains some NSFW language.**

**Double Warning: Potential Season 8 Spoilers!**

Most trailers are between two and three minutes, but AMC just released a five-minute (!) trailer for Season Eight of The Walking Dead!

The trailer has a much of snapshots of the upcoming war between Rick and Negan (and their respective communities). All of that stuff is really cool and whatever, but it’s really the final shot that stands out. It shows a much older Rick Grimes, using a cane to walk. What the hell does that mean?

Some fans are already speculating that it’s just a dream sequence, but it’s possible that the end of Season Eight could come with a major time jump. In the comics, the story fast forwarded over two years between issues 126 and 127 at the conclusion of the Rick vs. Negan war. Before being defeated, Negan managed to break Rick’s leg, causing him to use a cane for the rest of the comic (so far, anyway).

Regardless of what the show has in store for the new season, that final shot of the trailer is definitely notable.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 22.
