Steven Spielberg Is Reportedly Developing An ‘Animaniacs’ Reboot

Yakko, Wakko, and Dot may be gearing up for more adventures on the Warner Bros. studio lot.

IndieWire (via IGN) reports that Warner Bros. Animation and Amblin Television are developing a new version of beloved 90s cartoon, Animaniacs. Steven Spielberg, who served as executive producer on the original series, is expected to return for the reboot, which is still in early development and doesn’t yet have a network attached.

Warner Bros. has yet to confirm or deny the report.

Animaniacs ran from 1993 to 1995 on Fox Kids, before moving to Kids’ WB from 1995 to 1998. The series was a critical hit, winning eight Daytime Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award, and also spawned the spinoff Pinky and the Brain (hey WB, can we have a reboot of that show too?).

Random trivia: there was also an Animaniacs video game made by Konami for the Super Nintendo back in 1994 that was actually pretty decent.
