‘Miss Universe’ Blunder Prompts Boastful Reaction From Donald Trump

This year’s Miss Universe pageant ended with a major embarrassment, but according to America’s most infamous presidential candidate, nothing of the sort would have happened under his watch.

Responding to the shocking blunder that closed out last night’s live presentation, in which host Steve Harvey announced that Colombia contestant Ariadna Guiterrez Arevalo as the winner when it was in fact Pia Alonzo Wurtzback who won, Trump took to Twitter, claiming that if he hadn’t sold his stake in the annual pageant earlier this year, this wouldn’t have happened:

Trump also offered a surprisingly sensible solution when pressed by NBC’s “Today” show’s Matt Lauer for how he would have managed the error.

“I’ll tell you what I think I’d do. I think I’d make ’em a co-winner. It’d be very cool,” Trump said. “I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner.”

Trump had a falling out with NBC when the network severed ties with the outspoken presidential candidate over his controversial stance on Mexican immigration. He went onto sell his stake in the Miss Universe pageant to talent agency WME/IMG.

For context, here’s how the Steve Harvey blunder went down:
