Less than a week after the release of its latest Netflix series, Luke Cage, Marvel has revealed the debut date for the next entry in the Defenders franchise. As Variety reports, Marvel’s Iron Fist will hit Netflix worldwide on March 17, 2017.
Iron Fist stars Finn Jones (HBO’s Game of Thrones) as billionaire Danny Rand, who returns to New York City 15 years after being presumed dead in a plane crash. As Rand tries to reconnect with his past and uncover his family legacy, he must turn to kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the Iron Fist in order to battle a long-destined enemy.
Iron Fist is Marvel’s fourth live-action superhero series to hit Netflix, following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. A fifth series, Marvel’s The Defenders, will unite the four heroes together at some point in 2017. Additionally, Netflix is also producing a spinoff series based around Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher, who made his debut in season two of Daredevil earlier this year.
