Kit Harington Reveals Why He Felt Like He Betrayed The ‘Game of Thrones’ Cast

SPOILERS For Game of Thrones Season 6 Below

Game of Thrones fans collectively breathed a sigh of relief Sunday night when it was revealed that Jon Snow’s time on the popular HBO fantasy series was far from over. While viewers were probably excited to have the stress of that cliffhanger off their backs, no one likely felt a cathartic release more than Kit Harington, who spent the better part of a year actively lying about his character’s fate on the show.

As it turns out, all of that lying didn’t sit well with Harington, who admits that he felt like he was betraying his closest friends, family, and of course, the Game of Thrones cast by keeping them in the dark.

“At first I thought I would find it fun. This will be a fun game,” Harington told EW. “But I had to lie to a lot of close friends and cast members and crew. The longer it went, the more I felt like I was betraying them. So I did end up letting people in, slowly.”

Some of his castmates didn’t take him at his word, with Liam Cunningham hilariously telling him to “f**k off,” but others took the news a lot harder, with Sophie Turner writing Harington, “a really long letter about how much she loved working with [him].”

Now that his spoiler-watch has ended, we hope Harington can get back to what truly matters; namely, slapping that little traitor Olly upside the head and feeding him to Ghost; he deserves nothing less … probably.
