John Oliver and his hit HBO show Last Week Tonight is a lot of things, but it’s not likely that “Donald Trump supporter” is one of those things.
Last week, Oliver said that he is not interesting in having Trump appear on his show. In response, Trump tweeted out that Last Week Tonight DID ask him to appear, but he turned them down because their show is boring and low-rated. He added a few more insults, saying that appearing on Oliver’s show would be a waste of time and energy.
.@thehill John Oliver had his people call to ask me to be on his very boring and low rated show. I said “NO THANKS” Waste of time & energy!

The next day, Last Week Tonight‘s official Twitter account fired back, reiterating that Trump was never invited to the show, although they did concede that they are boring. After all, Oliver did do an entire segment on chicken farming.
A couple of points… 1. Yes, we have a boring show. 2. At no point did we invite Donald Trump to appear on it. https://t.co/qjpg9FLb0V

While appearing on CBS This Morning last Friday, Oliver was asked about the presidential candidate, but said that he doesn’t “really care about him in any capacity.” Somehow, we think that John Oliver might get more presidential votes than Donald Trump, if the British-born television host was actually allowed to run for office in the United States.
