Last year at this time, Walking Dead fans were anxiously awaiting for the arrival of Negan. As news slowly leaked out that actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan had been cast in the role and would appear at some point in Season Six, excitement reached a fever pitch (even if Negan only arrived for the final 10 minutes of the season).
Now the question is: how long is he staying? Drama series like The Walking Dead typically only have a “Big Bad” stick around for a season or two before moving on. However, Negan becomes a long-standing character in the comics, which could translate to four or five seasons worth of show content if AMC sticks to the source material with any degree of accuracy.
One this is for sure, though — Negan will be back in Season Eight.
Morgan confirmed on The Howard Stern Show (via ComicBook.com) that the series’ penultimate charismatic villain won’t be a one-season-wonder.
“I know I will be on board for Season 8. We’ve finished [Season 7] a week ago,” said Morgan.
He also revealed that Negan will be a huge part of the final two episodes before The Walking Dead takes its typical mid-season break.
“The next two, I’m really big in. I’m f**king heavy in those.”
While other parts of this season have been lackluster, in our eyes, Morgan brings a presence to the screen that is hard to ignore. Quite frankly, the more Negan, the better!
