Game of Thrones star Kit Harington may be one of the most skilled swordsmen in Westeros, but when it comes to altercations at late night fast food restaurants, it could be said that he knows nothing.
In a recent interview with W magazine (which you can watch below), Harington revealed that he got owned at a McDonald’s restaurant the night before his audition for the hit HBO series. He was at a Mickey D’s with a lady friend and the two had the misfortune of sitting near an unruly restaurant patron.
Harington took exception to the man’s rude comments, which led to a physical confrontation. Unfortunately for Kit, his opponent was significantly bigger than him and although he threw the first punch, the future Lord Commander lost the fight pretty quickly after getting socked in the melon.
So Harington rolled into the Game of Thrones audition the next day with a black eye, which apparently worked in his favor, as he jokingly mentions that “I think that man who punched me in the face may have helped me get the job, so if you’re watching, thank you.”
Well, if Harington’s story has taught us anything (and it hasn’t) it’s that if you ever have an TV show audition, make sure to go to a McDonalds the night before and get into a fist fight because it will help get you the gig. Or just be handsome and talented like Kit Harington, whatever works.
