‘Game of Thrones’ Confirms Another Character From The Books For Season 6

At this point, we’ve already seen a number of new characters making their way to Game of Thrones in season six, including a whole group of Greyjoys. Thanks to comments made by Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth on the show, we now know of another character book readers will be familiar with who will be making their debut this season.

While discussing the scene from the recent trailer that shows his character talking about the upcoming war with the dead, Cunningham told IGN that Davos is speaking to Lyanna Mormont in this particular scene.

“Who I’m saying that to is a fabulous young actress who you haven’t met yet, who’s about to come in, who’s Lyanna Mormont. He’s explaining the situation to her because certain other individuals are making a mess of their parlay. He’s very good at lateral thinking and explaining the situation, as we know.”

Lyanna Mormont is a fierce warrior and her and her followers remain loyal to the Starks. She is also a cousin of Ser Jorah Mormont. While Cunningham did not reveal how much of a role Lyanna will have in season six, he did elaborate more on his character’s motivations for meeting with her and other like-minded individuals.

“The Night’s King is coming. You ain’t gonna kill him with a bow and arrow. We need to do something, rapidly, but they’ve all got their heads up their asses with their own little squabbles.”

While Lyanna Mormont and her clan are sure to be great allies in the war to come, it looks like the North is going to need much more than strong warriors to stop the White Walkers. Whatever that is, it looks like poor Davos will be right in the middle of it all.
