Christopher Eccleston Plays Ninth Doctor Again In Touching Video For Hospitalized Fan

Christopher Eccleston has stepped back into the shoes of one of his most famous roles, playing the popular Doctor Who character in a video sending a heartfelt message to a sick fan.

Daniel, a 14-year old Doctor Who superfan, suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and is bed-bound in a hospital. He was previously visited by Peter Capaldi, who plays the current lead on Doctor Who and is the twelfth doctor on the long-running series. Eccleston mentions that Number 12 “had a word” with him about reaching out to Daniel.

Daniel has also received visits from other actors from the Doctor Who universe, as well as receiving video messages from showrunner Steven Moffat and actors Sylvester McCoy (the seventh Doctor), Noel Clarke (Mikey Smith) and Ingrid Oliver (Osgood).

This all started with an internet campaign with the hashtag #DrWhoDaniel. Daniel’s wish was to meet an actor from Doctor Who, and hopefully one of the Doctors themselves. He got his wish, and a lot more.
