The '90s

Attention 90s Kids: Nickelodeon Has You Covered With New Programming Block, ‘The Splat’

The never-ending cycle of Millennial nostalgia regurgitation just received another addition, as Nickelodeon has confirmed rumors that it has been developing a programming block exclusively devoted to its 1990s TV shows: It will be called “The Splat” and will debut on Monday, October 5.

Nickelodeon’s official statement describes The Splat as, “a new multiscreen content destination spanning television, seven social media platforms and a dedicated web site aggregating the most loved Nick content from the 1990s and beyond.” The new block will run an eight-hour rotating lineup daily on TeenNick from 10:00pm – 6:00am (ET/PT).

Here are the currently announced programs that will air on The Splat. Boy, these sure bring back some memories:

  • All That
  • Angry Beavers
  • Are You Afraid of the Dark
  • CatDog
  • Clarissa Explains It All
  • Hey Arnold!
  • Hey Dude
  • Kenan & Kel
  • Ren & Stimpy
  • Legends of the Hidden Temple
  • Rocko’s Modern Life
  • Rugrats
  • Salue Your Shorts
  • The Wild Thornberrys

Those who don’t see their favorite Nick show on the list will be happy to know that Nickelodeon is committed to having The Splat be heavily driven by audience requests and feedback.

“We have been listening closely to our first generation of Nick kids that are craving the great characters and shows they grew up with watching Nickelodeon in the ‘90s,” said Cyma Zarghami, President of Viacom Kids and Family Group. “We designed ‘The Splat’ with fans and their requests in mind, which means we’re bringing together these beloved series and a high level of digital engagement to give fans a retro media experience they can’t get anywhere else.”

If The Splat takes off, it probably won’t be long until all 90’s entertainment takes over this generation of children’s television, forcing the youth of today to adopt it as their own. Everything old is new again.
