Game of Thrones is typically shot in various parts of Europe, but a recent Watchers on the Wall report tells us that some of the filming has been moved to Calgary, Canada to accommodate characters of the more furry variety.
Calgary is the home of Instinct Animals for Films, a company that specializes in training and providing animals for movie roles. Game of Thrones has typically used them for footage of wolves, which are then digitally made larger to turn them into Direwolves, most notably Jon Snow’s faithful Ghost.
The interesting tidbit of info here is that they are currently using two different wolves for filming, plus the fact that Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) has been spotted in the area, which leads fans to believe that Arya will be reunited with Nymeria, her long lost Direwolf from Season One. Nymeria was forced by her owner to run away into the woods after she bite a young Prince Joffrey while defending Arya. All the other Direwolves belonging to the Stark children have since been killed off, except for Ghost.
Okay, so the “returning character” might just be an animal. But hey, maybe Gendry will still show up?
