Well, wrestling fans, another WrestleMania has come and gone. Over seven hours of television (if you count the Kickoff Show), we saw plenty of amazing things. Titles changed hands. Legends returned. Shane McMahon took a beating (like usual).
The reviews are varied, as they often are, with some people saying it was the best WrestleMania ever, while others were simply not satisfied. Whether you loved it or hated it, here’s a rundown of all of results from WrestleMania 35 from the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Tony Nese defeats Buddy Murphy (C) – WWE Cruisweweight Championship
Murphy attempted to use his opponent’s own finishing move against him, only for Nese to counter and hit a Running Nese of his own. Nese wins by pinfall and becomes the new Cruiserweight champion.
WrestleMania Woman’s Battle Royal
Mostly a time filler, this Battle Royal match (seemingly) came down to Asuka, Sarah Logan, and Sonya Deville. Logan managed to be the last woman standing, but Carmella then re-appeared in the ring, having not been legally eliminated earlier in the match. After a brief exchange, Carmella eliminated Logan with a superkick to win the match.https://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/wrestlemania-35/gallery/wrestlemania-womens-battle-royal-photos#fid-40349080 Via WWE.com
Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins defeat The Revival (C) – WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
Hawkins surprised Dash Wilder with a roll-up, scoring the pinfall. Ryder and Hawkins are the new Raw Tag Team Champions and Hawkins finally picks up a win!
Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
The match started with Michael Che and Colin Jost, who were special guest entries to the match, leaving the ring and hiding underneath it. The match came down to Braun Stowman and the Hardy Boyz. Che and Jost returned to the ring to try and help the Hardyz eliminate Strowman, but the big man overpowered everyone, eliminating the Hardyz. Che jumped over the top rope and eliminated himself, and then Strowman threw Jost into the pile of bodies outside the ring, winning this year’s AtGMBR.
WrestleMania 35 Main Card
Seth Rollings defeats Brock Lesnar (C) – WWE Universal Championship
Paul Heyman interrupted a “Welcome to WrestleMania” spot by Alexa Bliss and Hulk Hogan, demanding that if his client Brock Lesnar isn’t in the main event, he wants to get it over with. He also made several allusions to Lesnar heading to the UFC, by saying they were flying to Las Vegas “where they are appreciated” and also announcing Lesnar at 265 pounds (his UFC weight) instead of his normal 285 pounds.
Lesnar destroyed Rollins outside the ring before the match even started. When the bell finally rang, Rollins hit a low blow and then three successive curb stomps to pin Lesnar clean in roughly two and a half minutes. Woah. New champ.https://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/wrestlemania-35/gallery/brock-lesnar-vs-seth-rollins-photos#fid-40349241 Via WWE.com
A.J. Styles defeats Randy Orton
An entertaining match, as Styles is typically known for. Some great back and forth as the two tried to outsmart each other, but Styles eventually gets the win via pinfall after a Phenomenal Forearm.
The Usos (C) defeat The Bar, Ricochet and Aleister Black, and Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura – WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
A hectic match, with everyone getting their spots in. In the end, the Usos were able to hit a double top-rope splash on Seamus to score a pinfall win and retain their Tag Team titles.
Shane McMahon defeats The Miz – Falls Count Anywhere Match
Much of this match took place outside the ring, as the pair fought into the crowd and by the stage. The Miz was able to hit Shane with a superplex off some scaffolding onto a collapsing platform some 15-to-20 feet below. As both wrestlers laid there motionless, the ref counted a pinfall for Shane because he was technically laying on top of The Miz.
The Ilconics defeat Tamina and Nia Jax, Bayley and Sasha Banks (C), and Beth Phoenix and Natalya – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Beth Phoenix landed a top rope Grand Slam on Bayley that looked like it might be the finish, only for the Illconics to storm the ring, throw Phoenix to the outside, and make the pin themselves. New champions.https://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/wrestlemania-35/gallery/bayley-sasha-banks-vs-beth-phoenix-natalya-vs-the#fid-40349409 Via WWE.com
Kofi Kingston defeats Daniel Bryan (C) – WWE Championship
A very entertaining match between two great wrestlers. In the end, Kofi got the clean finish with a Trouble in Paradise. Big E and Xavier Woods presented Kofi with the old (real) WWE Championship belt, presumably ending the run for Bryan’s “eco-friendly” version.
Samoa Joe (C) defeats Rey Mysterio – WWE United States Championship
Joe locks in a Coquina Clutch within mere seconds, putting Mysterio to sleep and retaining the championship. Why the hell was this match so short? Maybe Rey really wasn’t healthy enough to compete.
Roman Reigns defeats Drew McIntyre
Reigns wins with a Superman Punch, followed up by a Spear. Love him or hate him, it was good to see Reigns back in a WWE ring after his much publicized battle with Leukemia. The cameras showed a very emotional Roman Reigns crying after the match was over.https://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/wrestlemania-35/gallery/john-cena-interrupts-elias-performance-photos#fid-40349587 Via WWE.com
The Dr. of Thuganomics John Cena beat up Elias
This wasn’t a sanctioned match or anything, but during one of Elias’s normal concert routines, John Cena hit the ring in his old white rapper gimmick, even using the “Basic Thugonomics” entrance music. After roasting Elias with a classic rhyming promo, Cena punched him with the Word Life brass knuckles and hit an FU (which he specifically stated would not be called the Attitude Adjustment).
Triple H defeats Batista – No Holds Barred, Triple H’s career on the line
Lots of weapons used in this one, after Triple H entered the ring in a Mad Max style car. The match ended when Ric Flair showed up, handed Triple H a second sledgehammer, and distracted Batista long enough for HHH to score the decisive blow. One Pedigree later, and Triple H wins by pinfall.https://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/wrestlemania-35/gallery/triple-h-vs-batista-photos#fid-40349725 Via WWE.com
Baron Corbin defeats Kurt Angle – Angle’s Farewell Match
Angle hit plenty of suplexes in this once, but missed on his trademark top-rope moonsault. Corbin hit the End of Days and won via pinfall. Classy move by Angle to not insist he win his final match. Angle gets on the mic and says goodbye to the crowd, and asked them to sing “YOU SUCK” along with his theme music one last time.
Finn “The Demon” Balor defeats Bobby Lashley (C) – WWE Intercontinental Championship
Finn comes out as The Demon, to much applause. The match ends with Balor hitting a powerbomb, and then the Coupe de Grace to score the pinfall. New champion.
Becky Lynch defeats Charlotte Flair (C) and Ronda Rousey (C) – Winner-Take-All Women’s Championship Match
After the typical back-and-forth of a triple threat match, Charlotte was taken out of the picture after going through a table. Ronda attempted to hit the Piper’s Pit on Becky, but Lynch reversed into a sneaky pin. The ref counted to three, even though it looked like Rousey’s shoulders left the mat for a second between the one and two counts. Rousey would complain about the pinfall while “The Man” celebrated with both titles. Botched finish? Or an intentional controversial finish in case Rousey decides to hang around the WWE longer?
