WWE Reportedly Signs Another Top Independent Star

Lost in the hype around the news that WWE has almost certainly signed 4 top stars from New Japan Pro Wrestling, some of whom may debut as early as the Royal Rumble, are reports of another popular independent star possibly signing with the company. Rumor has it that former Ring of Honor and TNA star Austin Aries, who bills himself as “The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived”, underwent medical testing for WWE last week, and may have already signed a contract that would see him start in WWE’s developmental organization, NXT, in the very near future. Aries has attempted to sign with WWE in the past, most notably trying to win a contract by applying for the Steve Austin-hosted season of Tough Enough that ran in 2011 (he did not make the cut to become part of the show).

Aries has reportedly already cancelled several independent appearances, and is rumored to be starting in NXT soon.
