WWE Planning Virtual Reality to Give Fans An “In The Ring” Viewing Experience

Have you ever been watching a Five Star match on PPV and thought to yourself, “Man, I wish I could get a better view of this — like, maybe from inside the ring!” Well, good news. The WWE is working on using virtual reality technology to give fans an additional element of being immersed in the show.

According to Michelle Wilson, WWE’s Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer, the WWE is hoping to have some sort of VR experience ready for fans within five years.

“I think V.R. is a really interesting thing to watch for us, we know that our fans want to be literally in the ring with our superstars,” Wilson said, according to the Business Insider. “I think it is absolutely sooner than five years, I’m not sure if it’s quite next year, but we’re definitely testing and evaluating, as we speak. I think a lot of it is us paying attention to our fans and are they adopting to buying the required headsets and the apps.”

If done right, it could be incredible. Imagine strapping on a headset and being instantly transported to a ring corner during the main event of WrestleMania, with 60,000+ fans surrounding you, watching Kevin Owens or A.J. Styles perform at what would feel like just an arm’s length away.

Forget the WWE Network, we want a subscription to WWE VR!
