WATCH: Shinsuke Nakamura Apologizes to John Cena After Almost Breaking His Neck

SmackDown Live featured quite the main event this week, as Shinsuke Nakamura faced off with John Cena for the right to a title shot at SummerSlam against Jinder Mahal. While many fans would rather have seen this match headlining a major PPV like WrestleMania or Survivor Series, the two made the most of their first one-on-one meeting.

Except for that part at the end where Nakamura dropped Cena on his head.

After reversing out of the Attitude Adjustment, Nakamura throws Cena into an Reverse Exploder. Just watch the cringe-worthy way that Cena lands on the back of head.

And here’s a slow-motion alternate angle that is even worse:

Luckily, since Cena is basically invincible superhero at this point in his career, he seemed completely fine after the awkward and dangerous landing. Nakamura still felt it necessary to apolagize, which he did publicly in the middle of the ring.

Cena’s response?

“Don’t be sorry.”

Some fans are speculating that the apology was planned all along, and was actually for robbing Cena of (yet another) WWE title shot. But considering the rough landing, maybe Nakamura’s words had a double meaning on Tuesday night.
