One of the biggest stars of NXT, and formally an indie darling who was hugely over everywhere he worked, has finally arrived on the main WWE roster.
Samoa Joe, the only two-time NXT champion, was picked by many fans to be a surprise entrant in Sunday’s Royal Rumble match. Especially after he appeared in street clothes in the crowd during Saturday night’s NXT Takeover: San Antonio event. Unfortunately, his number wasn’t called at the Rumble, waiting instead until the next night on Raw, when he debuted by attacking Seth Rollins right when the former Shield member was about to (finally) confront Triple H.
Looks like Triple H has a new loyal goon to do his dirty work. It also looks like a Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe match may be penciled in for WrestleMania in April, which actually sounds like a great idea. That is, unless Rollins actually gets to take on Triple H at the biggest event of the year.
