WATCH: Cardinals Outfield Commits Three Errors On Just Two Pitches

This was tough couple of pitches to watch, unless you happen to be a Mets fan.

For much of this season, the St. Louis Cardinals outfield has played excellent defense. Before Monday night, they had committed just six errors, good for fourth best in the entire league. However, a shocking display in the sixth inning by Magneuris Sierra and Dexter Fowler resulted in something rarely seen in baseball — three errors on just two back-to-back pitches.

Here’s the video:

As you can see, Sierra gets dinged with the first error for not cleanly fielding a base hit to right center by Jose Reyes. When he attempts to make up for the mistake, he air mails a wild throw way over top of third base, allowing Reyes to score with a little league home run.

After that ordeal, Fowler inexplicably botches a routine flyball off the bat of Travis d’Arnaud on the very next pitch, to complete the rare feat of three errors on two pitches.

Luckily for the embarrassed Cards’ outfield, the Mets are still the Mets and St. Louis held on for a 6-3 win.
