Smackdown Going Live, Brand Extension To Be Revived

In huge news, it looks like WWE will be making a big change to their programming lineup. According to a report by Variety, which has been confired by WWE, Smackdown will become a live show, airing Tuesdays at 8 PM on USA, starting July 19th.

It looks like in addition to turning Smackdown from a taped show into a live one, WWE may be bringing back the brand extension, as the report also says that there is expected to be a draft in the weeks before Smackdown goes live, and Raw and Smackdown will have separate writing teams, plots, and rosters.

It should be noted that WWE’s July PPV, Battleground, takes place on July 24th, a week after the announced debut of the live Smackdown.
