NXT Champion and human incarnation of charisma Shinsuke Nakamura had a long and decorated career in Japan before signing with WWE in early 2016. In fact, one of his biggest matches early in his time with New Japan Pro Wrestling saw him challenge The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, for the IWGP Heavyweight Title in 2006, ultimately coming up short. Nakamura would actually start travelling the world after that loss, looking to learn a more international style of wrestling in order to eventually defeat Lesnar, even allegedly having a plan to sign a contract with WWE to learn in the promotion where Lesnar had got his start. Unfortunately, Lesnar would abruptly leave NJPW, and Nakamura would be called back to give the promotion more star power, and his WWE run never materialized.
Now, ten years later, both Nakamura and Lesnar are in WWE at the same time, and the King of Strong Style made it clear in a recent interview that he would love to get back into the ring with one of his greatest opponents. Of course, he’s also fairly realistic about how brutal of a match that could be.
“If I get a chance, I would be up for that. My body would need to be ready because he is tough. Ouch.”
Of course, for this to happen, WWE would have to move Nakamura up to the main roster. So, you know, they should get on that.
