Although the news is just now becoming official many fans have been hearing whispers of the opt out throughout the past few months.
The 31-year-old and three time NBA All-Star could stand to make big money going into the summer as an unrestricted free agent. The only questions are where does he want to be and what is he looking for in his next contract.
Though Lowry has chosen to opt out of the final year of his contract to pursue free agency, it is still possible for the Raptors to secure Lowry for a five-year max contract deal. For the time being we will all just have to sit back and wait to see where Lowry will choose to play next season.
