Joe Rogan Thinks CM Punk Is Hurting UFC

On a recent podcast with MMA legend Bas Rutten, UFC color man Joe Rogan had a few choice thoughts about CM Punk’s jump to UFC. It’s fair to say that Rogan is not a fan of the former WWE Champion’s attempt to make it in the top company in MMA.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with that guy. I don’t understand this whole thing. Well, I also think it’s ridiculous for him to fight in the UFC. I think he should fight in a small organization. Take a fight in a small organization, build yourself up. I have always said that’s what should have happened with Brock Lesnar.”

Rogan also pointed out that UFC was forced to seek out an opponent for Punk from the “minor leagues” and bring him into UFC so that Punk could have a fair fight for his first match, a concession not usually done for competitors making their UFC debut. It should also be noted that Punk likely will not be favored in this match, due to having never competed in an official MMA bout, and it’s uncertain how long his UFC career would continue if he loses, especially if he can’t be competitive against a fairly inexperienced fighter.

Perhaps Punk will surprise both fans and Rogan, but for now, as Punk’s debut continues to get sidetracked due to injuries, the question being raised is if this whole circus will end up being worth all the trouble that UFC has gone through to get Punk inside the octagon.
