With the return of the Brand Extension, and with it single brand Pay Per Views, WWE suddenly has a lot more Network specials on the calendar, giving them the opportunity to revive some forgotten concepts from the past. Ask any wrestling fan what PPV they’d like to see come back, and a vast majority of them will likely include King of the Ring somewhere on the list. While WWE did run a King of the Ring event last year, it mostly happened on Raw, with the semifinals and finals taking place on the Network in a hastily-advertised special the next night, and was largely poorly received (also, the eventual King, Wade Barrett, was basically buried after winning). However, there are signs that the tournament could make another return in the near future, as WWE has reportedly filed for a new trademark for the name.
What do you think? Would you be excited for the return of the King of the Ring tournament, in any form?
