Finn Balor Likely To Return To Action in a Week or Two

Finn Balor arrived on the main roster last year and made an immediate impact, becoming the inaugural Universal Champion. Unfortunately for fans of his NXT work, his reign was extremely short-lived. He suffered a bad shoulder injury in the same PPV match where he won the title, sending him to the operating table and to the sidelines for months.

With WrestleMania 33 just around the corner, Dave Meltzer has reported that Balor is extremely close to returning. In fact, he popped up during the NXT tapings on Wednesday to save Shinsuke Nakamura from a two-on-one beatdown, although that segment may never be shown on TV (we’ll have to wait and see).

From Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Radio:

“He’s not going back to NXT. He’s going to be on the Raw brand. He is supposed to start back in two weeks, maybe [sooner]. He’s on his way back. He’s always been scheduled for WrestleMania … I don’t know what role, though. But they’ll do something [with him at WrestleMania].”

We expect Balor to immediately get back into the title mix when he returns, since he never officially lost the Universal Title — he had to vacate it due to injury. If they don’t do that, then maybe, just maybe, they will consider having him reform the Balor (Bullet) Club with Gallows and Anderson. Pity that A.J. Styles is on the other brand, although anything can change in pro wrestling.
