Enes Kanter Expertly Trolled All The Laker Fans Who Were Hoping To Land Russell Westbrook

In the post-Kobe era, fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are feeling a bit lost. Their team, one of the historically most glamorous and winning franchises in all of sports, is a bit like a ship with no sale at the moment, drifting aimlessly. the one thing that gives them hope is that the Lakers front office will somehow land a big fish — either via trade or through free agency — that will return the purple and gold the top of the Western Conference.

When Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder, many felt that fellow All-Star Russell Westbrook would be quick to follow. At the time, he only had a single year left on his contract and if the Thunder couldn’t get him to agree to an extension, they would almost certainly have to trade him in order to prevent him leaving as a free agent next summer. The Lakers were on the radar in either case.

Unfortunately for those suffering L.A. fans, Westbrook re-upped with the Thunder this week, inking a new three-year, $85 million deal to become the sole face of the franchise. The deal includes a player option third year, but that means Westbrook won’t free agency until at least 2018.

Westbrook’s Thunder teammate Enes Kanter took the opportunity to rub it in. Naturally, he used basketball’s greatest gift to the internet — the Crying Jordan.

Sorry, Lakers faithful. Your Kobe Bryant replacement will not be Russell Westbrook. At least, not yet.
