CM Punk Injured While Training, Will Not Debut For UFC This Year

Fans awaiting the debut of former WWE Superstar CM Punk in Ultimate Fighting Championship are going to have to wait a while longer. Reports have come out from Punk’s coach, Duke Roufus, that the pro wrestler-turned-MMA fighter suffered a shoulder injury as part of his training, and will not be taking part in any matches for the rest of 2015. At this point, there is no official plan for when Punk’s first UFC match will take place, or who his opponent might be. Below is the official statement from Punk’s coach.

“He’s about at 50 percent. But that being said, remember that my 100 percent is a very well-prepared person.

“The UFC will probably book him a fight three to four months in advance — a guy of his magnitude. We’re probably looking at a fight in the next six to 10 months. The injury throws us back one month. We had a ballpark. We were looking at mid- to late-spring. Now, we’ll just have to see how he comes back from the injury.”
