Charles Barkley Defends His LeBron Criticism: “It Was Fair”

LeBron James let loose an aggressive rant earlier this week, targeted at NBA analyst Charles Barkley. After Barkley labelled James “whiny” for publicly calling out his team’s front office, LeBron hit back with a vicious tirade that included a list of Barkley’s faults as a player and a human being.

Then LeBron’s former teammate Dwyane Wade spoke up, saying he was glad someone finally put Barkley in this place. But Sir Charles isn’t backing down from his comments. In a recent interview with Mike Wise of The Undefeated, Barkley was asked whether he planned to contact James to try and make peace over the very public spat.

“For what?” Barkley asked. “For tellin’ the truth? What am I supposed to say, ‘You’re the greatest player in the world’? You’ve got two All-Stars and you want me to feel sorry for you? Do you think Carmelo [Anthony] would be happy with two All-Stars? I think he’d be happy.”

“I thought my criticism was fair,” Barkley said. “So I don’t understand why he took it so personally. But you know what, I’m a big boy. I’m good.”

It sounds like we haven’t heard the last of this from either party, although James seems to be content in going back to ignoring the media while trying to get the Cavaliers out of their current slide.
