Angry Spurs Fan is Suing Zaza Pachulia For Injuring Kahwi Leonard

Even neutral fans were upset when MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard left Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals after re-injuring his ankle. The San Antonio Spurs forward is easily the team’s best player and if they have any chance of beating the juggernaut Golden State Warriors, they need Leonard on the floor. With him out, fans have been robbed of a potentially competitive series.

As upset as the casual fan may be, Spurs fans are completely enraged. They feel that any chance of another NBA Finals appearance for their beloved team is probably gone if Leonard can’t play. One fan is so furious, actually, that he has filed a lawsuit against Zaza Pachulia and the Golden State Warriors, claiming that Pachulia “intentionally and maliciously” make an effort to injure Leonard.

Juan Vazquez filed suit on Tuesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Vazquez on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against Pachulia and the Warriors on behalf of Spurs season ticket holders and San Antonio card shop What’s On Second.

“All we are asking from the court is that this type of behavior, that can and does cause serious injury to our team and those that love it, not be allowed in San Antonio,” said Alfonso Kennard, Jr., lead attorney for the plaintiffs.

The suit claims Pachulia acted “without excuse or justification, intentionally and maliciously invaded the landing zone of an opposing athlete, Kawhi Leonard.”

The suit demands that the “two-step closeout” be banned in San Antonio, and they are also seeking financial restitution for the diminished value of their tickets.

It’s an interesting lawsuit, but it’s unlikely to go anywhere. As for the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors are up 2-0 and are looking to book a spot in their third straight Finals. The Spurs, meanwhile, are hanging on for dear life and may still be without Leonard for Game 3 and beyond.
