Harry Lloyd is perhaps most recognized for his memorable turn as Daenerys Targaryen’s scheming older brother Viserys in the first season of Game of Thrones, but don’t be surprised if you start associating this up-and-coming British actor with much more than HBO’s hit fantasy series. Lloyd’s acting resume has been steadily growing over the last few years and already has an impressive array of film and television work. Lloyd had a prominent role as Stephen Hawking’s close friend Brian in last year’s Oscar-winning film The Theory of Everything and is also part of the main cast of the WGN American drama series Manhattan, which will begin airing its second season this October. Currently, Lloyd is busy filming the World War II-era film Anthropoid alongside Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy (set for a 2016 release), but he took some time out of his busy schedule to write an exclusive piece for Goliath on the strange bits of culture shock he’s experienced in his visits to the United States.
Here are the 7 Strangest Things About The United States for Europeans (according to Harry Lloyd):

People talk about the other states like Europeans talk about other countries. Coastal folk are snobby about the mid-West, Oklahomans have a deep deep hatred for Texans, and only now are the Confederate flags coming down. It’s extraordinary that all this diversity is contained in one country, with one man running it.
