No hive of scum and villainy would be complete without some adult beverages on tap, so Disney is bending its usual policies a bit by allowing Oga’s Cantina at the new Disneyland attraction Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to serve alcohol.
As reported by THR, this will be the first open attraction to serve alcohol within the Disneyland park in its entire 63-year existence. Currently, the only place guests can get their booze on is at the invite-only Club 33 in New Orleans Square.
“No self-respecting remote outpost on the edge of the galaxy would call itself a smuggler’s planet without a cantina, and Black Spire Outpost is no exception,” reads a statement on Disney Parks Blog. “Patrons of the cantina come from across the galaxy to sample the famous concoctions created with exotic ingredients using “otherwordly” methods served in unique vessels. With choices for kids and libations for adults, the cantina will make for a great stop!”
A Disney Parks representative confirmed to THR that the phrase “libations for adults” does in fact mean alcohol.
“The hottest trend today in parks and attractions across the country is the inclusion of unique, specialty, craft and themed beverages,” Ken Whiting, a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions board of directors, said. “Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will take that to the next level.”
Here’s hoping “next level” isn’t referring to $20 Budweiser served in fancy ‘space’ glasses.
While the drinks on tap are sure to be expensive, at least Oga’s Cantina will be stuffed full of dozens of Star Wars characters, including Oga Garra himself (yes, the cantina has an alien proprietor). The Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid RX-24, formerly of Star Tours, will act as the cantina’s DJ (wait, does this mean no Cantina Band?!).https://www.starwars.com/news/from-world-war-to-star-wars-the-cantina Source: StarWars.com
