Well, this is definitely the Star Wars: The Force Awakens mashup we were looking for.
Look, we get that you’re probably starting to get burned out on Star Wars stuff right now, but it’s really difficult to be cynical about this particular fanart. Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes is one of the world’s most treasured comic strips, even though it ended over 20 years ago, and when combined with another beloved franchise like Star Wars, the result is truly something special.
Created by Brian Kesinger, an artist who works for Marvel Comics and Disney Animation Studios, the drawings re-imagine iconic moments from Watterson’s strip using familiar characters and scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The most striking image in the collection may be this one, that depicts Rey sliding down a sand dune with BB-8 in tow on a makeshift sled, which evokes the familiar image of Calvin hurtling down a hill with his stuffed tiger Hobbes. As it turns out, this scene was what inspired Kesinger to draw this series:
“It struck me that she probably did that as a child, and that’s when the Calvin and Hobbes image flashed in my head.” [via Buzzfeed]
Unsurprisingly, Kesinger credits Watterson as one of his biggest artistic influences (guess that explains how he mimics his style so well!). All we know is that Disney needs to get a Spaceman Finn comic off the ground yesterday. To see more of Brian Kesinger’s work, be sure to check out his Instagram and Etsy store. Here are a few more of his Calvin and Hobbes mashups:

Oh and he also has an Adventure Time-themed one because he’s awesome:
