Gangsta rap fans should consider heading West in April if they want to see a performance they won’t soon forget.
According to Ice Cube, he is planning to reunite legendary hip hop group N.W.A. in time for 2016’s Coachella festival. If successful, N.W.A. would join two other headlining acts that only recently re-formed — Guns N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem.
Ice Cube appeared on The Talk recently and spilled the beans:
“I’ve got some tricks up my sleeves… I’m gonna try to bring the members of NWA together…give everybody a little history lesson on Ice Cube and NWA, Westside connection, everything I’ve been doing over the years. We have some great visuals….same night Guns & Roses get back together…It’s gonna be a great night!”
Obviously any N.W.A. reunion would be without the late Eazy-E, who passed away in 1995 due to complications from AIDS. It’s unclear whether the four surviving members would try to sub in a replacement or simply perform one man short. Previous rumors of an N.W.A. reunion included Dr. Dre’s former protege Eminem as the stand-in fifth member.
Coachella is held on back-to-back weekends at the end of April in California.
