The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer unveiled at Comic-Con last month was notable for showing the first footage of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in action, including a brief scene that showed the Amazonian princess in battle with an unknown enemy. If a new rumor is to be believed, the unseen foe that Wonder Woman is battling is none other than Doomsday, the villain who killed Superman in the comics.
According to Heroic Hollywood, Doomsday will be the film’s big villain (in addition to Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, of course) and will likely be the antagonistic force that brings Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and other DC heroes together in the film’s final act, laying the groundwork for the eventual Justice League movie.
The site also reveals that Wonder Woman will put her sword to good use in the aforementioned scene, cutting off Doomsday’s arm at one point. Of course, this won’t put the powerful villain out for very long, but it’s good to know that director Zack Snyder is giving the world’s greatest female superhero some cool things to do in her film debut.
This could all turn out to be a hoax, but having a villain like Doomsday in the film makes logical sense, given that the film’s heroes will need an overwhelming force to bring them together in the end. We’ll have to wait until March 25, 2016 when the film hits theaters to find out for sure.
