Created by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios, the film follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel Rivera who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead. While there, he seeks the help of his deceased great-great-grandfather, who’s an accomplished musician to return him to his family among the living.
The film received universal praise from critics and moviegoers becoming an instant success for Pixar and Disney. The film won two Academy Awards, taking home Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for the beautiful “Remember Me.” Coco would eventually earn over $800 million at the global box office, making it the 15th highest grossing animated film of all time.
