The Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Is Looking To Cast Woody Harrelson

Earlier this week, it was reported that the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie, which we’re just going to call Star Wars: Han Solo until we get an official title, was being delayed seven months from May 25, 2018 to December 13, 2018 and now we have an idea why.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is looking to cast Woody Harrelson as a mentor figure in the Han Solo prequel. Apparently, Christian Bale was another big name being eyed for the part, but it looks like they’ve now moved on to wooing Harrelson. As much as we would have loved to see Bale in a Star Wars movie, the prospect of seeing Harrelson in a galaxy far, far away is exciting too. Harrelson is a huge talent and is just as comfortable hamming it up for the screen as he is in playing darkly serious roles, so no matter what kind of character Disney gives him, he’ll be able to chew the scenery with it.

Also, if Rogue One is any indication, we probably shouldn’t get too attached to Harrelson’s character because he’s totally going to die.

Star Wars: Han Solo also stars Alden Ehrenreich in the title role and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.
