Joe Manganiello has been a constant source of optimism throughout the numerous reports of The Batman’s troubled production that have been popping up in recent months. The Magic Mike XXL star has taken the press to task for focusing on his co-star Ben Affleck’s supposed disdain for the project and has tried to steer the conversation back to his portrayal of Deathstroke, claiming that he thinks the assassin could be an all-time great on-screen villain. Unfortunately, it now looks like that optimism may be coming to an end.
In a new interview with Pittsburgh Live Today, Manganiello was asked about his role in The Batman, to which he shrugged his shoulders and responded “Um, maybe. We’ll see.” With recent reports of the film’s script being rewritten from scratch, it’s quite possible that Manganiello is out and the studio is deciding to go in a different direction with the film’s villain. Then again, with how turbulent everything surrounding The Batman is right now, perhaps Manganiello is just tempering expectations and staying non-committal until Warner Bros. is ready to make some official announcements regarding the status of the production.
The Batman will be out eventually (we hope).
