‘Star Wars: Han Solo’ Director Marks First Day Of Shoot With Greedo Joke

‘Red Cup’ is officially underway.

That’s the placeholder title of the Star Wars spinoff movie being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, focusing on the early life of Han Solo. Miller marked the first day of shooting on Twitter this morning, sharing an image of the clapperboard with the caption “Han First Shot,” a clever wink at the Han Shot First controversy surrounding George Lucas’ edits of the original 1977 movie.

Star Wars: Red Cup (get it, because SOLO cups are red?) stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, alongside Emilia Clarke in an unspecified role and Woody Harrelson as an unnamed mentor figure. The film also stars Atlanta’s Donald Glover as a younger version of Lando Calrissian, the character made famous by Billy Dee Williams in the original trilogy.

The film is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
