Star Wars Episode IX: Colin Trevorrow Out As Director

Lucasfilm and Disney have announced that Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World, The Book of Henry) will no longer be directing Star Wars: Episode IX.

“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon,” read a Lucasfilm statement on Star Wars official site. Source:

This news comes only a few months after Phil Lord and Chris Miller parted ways on Star Wars: Han Solo (working title), leading Lucasfilm and Disney to bring in veteran filmmaker Ron Howard to oversee the production’s final stages. Episode IX isn’t set to begin shooting until January 2018, but it’s unclear whether or not Trevorrow’s departure will push that date back. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2019.
