Although Deadpool was unable to score a win at the Golden Globe awards this weekend, it doesn’t look like Ryan Reynolds and co. are letting that deter them from making the sequel even better (and hell, the fact that Deadpool was even nominated for a Golden Globe is pretty impressive when you consider how often comic book movies get ignored for these types of things).
Reynolds, of course, was on hand at the Golden Globes Sunday night, having been nominated for his performance in Deadpool, and MTV News got the chance to ask him about the upcoming sequel. Specially, Reynolds was asked whether a casting announcement would be made soon in regards to the character Cable, who will play a role in the film. Unfortunately, it looks like the search is still on, as Reynolds admitted that they haven’t found anyone yet:
“Still working on it, everybody’s still working on it. We’re not gonna start ’til we’re ready.”
Previously, it had been rumored that Kyle Chandler was the frontrunner to play Cable, but after director Tim Miller left the project, Chandler seemed to be out as well. Still, it’s nice to hear that Reynolds and the Deadpool 2 creative team aren’t rushing things and want to get the casting right. After all, Deadpool 2 is going to have a hard enough time topping the excellent original film, so it will certainly help a Cable who has a ton of onscreen chemistry with Reynolds.
