RUMOR: ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars’ Story Has Found Its Darth Vader

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will feature several villains both new and old (including Ben Mendelsohn’s white-caped Imperial leader who or may not be Grand Moff Tarkin), but most fans are excited by the prospect of seeing one villain in particular: the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader.

It’s been rumored for awhile now that Vader will turn up in the film, which is set before the events of the first Star Wars. While Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to confirm the character’s involvement, if a new report is to be trusted, Vader is definitely in the film and we also know who is playing him.

According to Flickering Myth, British Actor Spencer Wilding will be playing Darth Vader in Rogue One. Wilding is primarily known as a stunt actor, appearing in other blockbusters such as Batman Begins and Wrath of the Titans. You’ll also probably recognize him as this guy from Guardians of the Galaxy: Source:

The big question that remains is whether or not James Earl Jones will return to provide Vader’s iconic voice. Considering Jones recently reprised the role for the Star Wars Rebels animated series, it seems quite likely that he would do the same for Rogue One. There’s also no indication how large of a role Vader will play in the film, but no matter how much screen time he gets, you can be sure that Disney and Lucasfilm will make every minute count.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters December 16, 2016. If you want to watch the trailer again, you can find it here.
