Warner Bros. has made no secret about the fact that they have a longer R-rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice waiting in the wings for the film’s home video release. Now it looks that cut could very well be making its way to theaters before the Blu-ray and DVD versions hit store shelves.
According to a rumor from Heroic Insider and as reported by Birth.Movies.Death, Warner Bros. is thinking about a theatrical release for the R-rated cut. While the story doesn’t cite any specific reason for the decision, it’s hard not to think that the studio wants to bolster the film’s box office presence, which has notably been tapering off quickly in the last few weeks.
Does this mean we’ll get an extended, more pornographic version of the Clark and Lois bathtub scene? Either way, if Superman isn’t dripping in blood in every sequence, we’re walking out. That’s what R-ratings are for, right?
