REPORT: Lucasfilm And Disney Are Close To Casting A Young Han Solo

It seems that Disney has been a pretty good job of wading through the close-to 2,500 actors in the running to play a young Han Solo in an upcoming spin-off film, as reports are now indicating that the shortlist is down to eight.

The most recognizable names being tossed around right now include Dave Franco, Miles Teller, Logan Lerman, and Scott Eastwood. According to Variety, these are the names that appear on Disney’s official shortlist. The other actors are Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some).  The actors range in age from 20-30, with Franco, believe it or not, being the oldest of the bunch at 30.

Right now, not much else is known about the Han Solo movie other than that it’s being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo behind such films as 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie. Disney has yet to officially confirm the shortlist, but if true, one of the actors listed will take over the role that until now has been played exclusively by Harrison Ford. No pressure or anything.

The movie is scheduled for release May 25, 2018.
