If you’re firmly in touch with everything nerd culture, you’ll know that October 2015 is the month that Doc Brown and Marty McFly visited in the future during Back to the Future II.
While we still don’t have hoverboards (although Lexus is getting pretty close), self-tying shoelaces (get on it, Nike!), or Jaws 19 (thank god), Pepsi is planning to celebrate with a limited edition bottle that is identical to the one from the movie, containing Pepsi Perfect — a beverage that didn’t actually exist until now.
Hardcore film fans, or even just people who really like soft drinks, will have a chance to grab the limited edition release of Pepsi Perfect. Be warned though, it’s actually just regular Pepsi in a new bottle and will cost you $20.15. Only 6,500 bottles will be made and they will be unveiled at Comic Con in New York next week. Apparently the first 1,500 bottles will be handed out to any fans who are dressed at Marty McFly.
“Fans have always been a little crazy about it,” said Lou Arbetter, Pepsi’s senior director of marketing told USA Today, “and so we wanted to take advantage of the fact that Marty traveled to the future, to this month, and wanted to actually come out with the product.”
They even created their own commercial for the limited edition release of their $20 soda.
