New ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Character Revealed (And It’s An Evil Droid!)

As part of the marketing for Force Friday II’s new line of Star Wars: The Last Jedi toys, Disney had promised that a new character from the film would be revealed. Well, that day has finally come: say hello to BB-9E, the evil cousin of BB-8!

More specifically, BB-9E is a First Order droid and Sphero, the company behind the popular remote-controlled rolling BB-8 toy released alongside Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has created a similar toy for the new BB unit.

It’s unclear what role BB-9E will play in The Last Jedi, but his movements are quite similar to that of BB-8’s, judging by the video below:

In other Star Wars news, a new photo of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker was recently featured on the cover of a Hungarian magazine called Cinemania Mozimánia and it’s sparked speculation that Luke may not be as close to the Light Side of the Force as he once was:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in theaters on December 15.
