Don’t go asking for Michael Shannon’s opinion about who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman because he just plain doesn’t care.
Shannon, who makes a brief appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as his Man of Steel villain General Zod, told Vulture that he is “so profoundly, utterly unconcerned,” with the outcome of a fight between the two superheroes. “I can’t even come up with a fake answer.”
The actor did come up with an answer eventually, begrudgingly choosing Henry Cavill’s Superman because “he killed me.”
“I guess I have to root for Superman because he killed me, so I would hope that he would continue his killing spree and become like a serial killer Superman,” he said. “That’s a new take on Superman. We’d all be in a heap of trouble if Superman was a serial killer. He could just wipe us all out. But then he’d be lonely.”
“Isn’t he already lonely?” asked the likely taken-aback interviewer. Shannon, not missing a beat, deadpanned, “Well, we’re all lonely.”
Wow. If we didn’t know any better, we’d say that Michael Shannon is a bit peeved that his character was reduced to a corpse that gets turned into a giant rage monster in the new film. Either that, or he’s read the reviews and is just happy that he had minimal involvement with the film.
