Marvel’s ‘Civil War’ Teams Have Been Revealed

The next Captain America movie has the subtitle Civil War. Comic readers will know that this refers to a divide in the superhero community about whether the government should have control over their actions or not, especially considering the massive amounts of collateral damage caused by their epic battles against evil.

In the comics, the government proposes the Superhero Registration Act, requiring heroes to register as “living weapons of mass destruction.” Some heroes supported the increased accountability, while others decried their new lack of freedom and said the Act violated their civil rights.

On the pro-registration side, led by Tony Stark’s Iron Man: War Machine, Black Panther, The Vision, and Black Widow.

On the anti-registration side, led by Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Falcon, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and Sharon Carter (former SHIELD agent).

Notably absent from any of the teams is a certain wall-crawler. Spider-man was the one character caught in the middle of the Civil War in the comics. So far there is no indication of how he might fit into the movie version, if at all.
