At a panel this week at Denver Comic Con, Karl Urban was asked by a fan whether he would do a sequel to Dredd, even if it was poorly written and just made for the money. Urban gamely quipped that he does need a new house, but then revealed some interesting information.
He confirmed that Dredd 2 is in development.
More specifically, a story is being developed and is currently being shopped around to different platforms in an attempt to find the right fit. Dredd was a hit with critics when it was released back in 2012 but it didn’t do well at the box office. Fortunately, the film was a hit on home video, where it found a large cult audience.
Urban also added that there is an interest from “established creatives” but didn’t give any further details, and also said that he would do the sequel if he felt it had depth and substance.
