So, unless you managed to get to this article without reading the headline: potential spoilers of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will follow.
The internet has been running rampant with spoilers, insider info, and fan theories for the sequel to one of Marvel’s surprise smash hits. During a recent Facebook Live session, director James Gunn addressed some of those rumors, while shooting down others. Here’s a brief summary of what’s what.
Gunn confirmed that Vin Diesel will appear in the movie as Baby Groot, after adult Groot was destroyed and then replanted at the end of Guardians. Gunn also confirmed that Mantis (Pom Klementieff) would be appearing in the movie, although he refused to elaborate on how the character fits into the story.
Gunn confirmed a couple of other roles, including Sylvester Stallone playing “someone.” He confirmed that Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) would have bigger roles in the sequel, but was mum about the rumor that they join forces with the good guys this time around.
Gunn refused to speak about how the movie might tie into The Avengers: Infinity War films, although many expect that will be the case.
Guardians 2 will also feature Kurt Russell as Ego, an ancient being who also happens to be the father of Peter Quill/Star-Lord.
The sequel is currently scheduled to hit theaters in May 2017, so chances are a lot more info could leak between now and then.
