Considering he’s been the face of Han Solo since the character was created in the first Star Wars movie, you would think Harrison Ford would at least have a cameo in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off. You would be wrong.
Speaking to Reuters recently, the notoriously frank actor had this to say when asked about his involvement with the film:
“I’m sure whoever is responsible for that film, and I’m not, will think through the issues and problems of doing such a thing. Let’s make them responsible for those questions you might think to ask me [about the Han Solo movie] because I’m not involved.”
He went on to say, “No, I’m not going to do that,” when asked if he had considered having a behind the scenes role on the film, helping whoever gets picked from the batch of 2,500 young actors who have been looked at already to take the role of a young Han.
While some fans will understandably be disappointed with Ford’s dismissive attitude toward the whole project, it’s refreshing to see an actor who can pick and choose his involvement in these kinds of big budget franchises. Then again, when you’re Harrison Ford, you can kind of do whatever you want. It’s incredible that he even agreed to sign onto The Force Awakens; we should just be thankful for that.
